Why do women bear children and why do men not?

In a word, it is because that is how the body is made.
In other words, women bear children because they have a place in their bodies to produce eggs (ova), which are the source of children, and a room (uterus) to nurture children. Men cannot bear children because they do not have such a place.
The reason why the roles of men and women are separated in this way is because it is convenient for them to beget their own offspring. Living creatures pass on their genes to their offspring to ensure that their own species will continue to exist indefinitely. Genes act like blueprints that transmit the physical characteristics of the parents to the offspring. Children who receive this blueprint from their parents become the same animal as their parents.
However, the genes are not passed directly from one parent to the next. The child receives half from the male and half from the female. In this way, the male and female genes, or blueprints, are mixed to produce a child with various characteristics that differ from those of the parents.
