Why do humans have hair?

Many animals have hair. Animals such as lizards, crocodiles, turtles, and fish do not have hair, but dogs, cats, lions, zebras, monkeys, and humans do.
The hairy animals I have just mentioned are all members of the mammalian family. These animals have hair on their bodies, and hair is one of the major characteristics of mammals. Humans, of course, are also mammals, so it is only natural that we have hair.
