Why do I get cavities (when I eat sweet food)?

Why do I get cavities (when I eat sweet food)?

The outside of the tooth is covered with white enamel and the inside is made up of yellow dentin. Dental caries occurs when the outer enamel is worn away and the dentin is exposed.

The dentin is lined with many small canals, which contain the nerves. When these canals become exposed due to tooth decay, food and other substances enter the canals and irritate the nerves inside, resulting in toothache.
By the way, tooth enamel erosion is caused by bacteria. Many bacteria attach themselves to the teeth and live off of food debris. These bacteria produce a fluid that digests food debris, and this fluid also removes the enamel from the teeth. The bacteria's favorite food is sugar, in other words, sweet foods.
If you eat a lot of sweet foods and do not clean your teeth afterwards, the bacteria will produce more and more enamel-digesting fluid, making tooth decay even worse.
Eating sweet foods is the same as feeding the caries-causing bacteria. This is why we need to clean our teeth properly after eating.
