How was Mt.

Fuji, like other volcanoes, is a mountain formed by eruptions of underground magma.
Fuji is characterized by the fact that it was first formed as a small mountain 80,000 years ago, and then erupted three times, in three major phases, until it took its present shape. Like wearing many layers of clothing, ash and lava accumulated and spread around the mountain after each eruption, creating a high mountain with a broad base.
