How does lightning form?
The true nature of lightning is electricity. In other words, lightning is formed when electricity is generated in thunderclouds.
However, it is still not well understood exactly how the electricity of lightning is generated in clouds.
Inside a thunder cloud, the air rises and falls with a strong impetus. It is believed that positive electricity is generated in the rising cloud particles and negative electricity is generated in the large ice particles descending through the cloud, but this is still not clear.
