Why does the bonito flakes move by itself when placed on top of hot food?
When bonito flakes are placed on top of hot food such as udon noodles, the bonito flakes begin to move on their own.
For example, when you put bonito flakes on hot rice, they move mysteriously as if they are dancing.
If you observe this closely, you will notice not only the moving bonito flakes, but if you look closely around the bonito flakes, you will notice that there are wavy hairs rising up from the bonito flakes.
The bonito flakes are very thin and light. On the surface where the yuge are rising, the light bonito flutters and starts to move as if it were dancing. It was this yuge that moved the bonito flakes.
