How many kanji are there?
The answer is, "I don't really know." Chinese characters were originally created in China. We still do not know exactly how many characters exist in China.
It seems certain that the minimum is approximately 50,000. However, we do not know the exact number beyond that.
The number of kanji we learn in elementary school is about 1,000, and it is said that if you know 1,500 to 2,000 kanji, you can read a newspaper, so the kanji learned in elementary school are very important in our daily life.
