Why do things have names?

Why do things have names?

Among many other things, think about when you invent something new that has never existed in the world before. The thing you have invented is something that no one has ever seen or used before. Naturally, it does not have a name.

In such cases, you understand that the person who invented the product has the right to name it.
However, not all things in the world are newly invented. There are many things that have existed for a long time, and many things that existed before humans appeared on the earth. Therefore, we have no idea when, who, and how these things were named.
For example, in order to really investigate why a flower is called "hana" (flower), we have to find out when the word "hana" was first used in the Japanese language. It is not easy to do this for each individual word. Therefore, it is not easy to answer why each object is called so.
However, it is certainly an interesting, albeit difficult, problem to find out the origin of the name of an object. If you are interested and have time, it might be interesting to do some research on this topic.
