Occupations Elementary School Students Want to Have in the Future (2020 Edition)
We have compiled a list of the top 20 occupations that elementary school students aspire to.
No. 1 overall is "patissier (cake shop)," which is overwhelmingly popular among girls. No. 5, "Doctor (including dentist)," is popular among both boys and girls.
No. 1 for boys is "professional soccer player.
Sports players are popular, with "professional soccer player" and "professional baseball player" in first and third place, respectively. No. 10 "e-sports player/professional gamer" e-sports has many international tournaments, and more and more elementary school students in Japan are paying attention to it.

Those who answered "patissier" as No. 1 were more than twice as many as those who answered "nursery school teacher/kindergarten teacher (yochien kyoyu)" as No. 2. Many occupations not in the boys' top 20 were ranked.
