Occupations Elementary School Students Want to Have in the Future (2021 Edition)

We have compiled the results of a survey in which we asked elementary school students to choose what kind of job they would like to have in the future. Here are the top 10.
The overall No. 1 for both boys and girls combined is "patissier (cake shop). It is very popular among girls and has been the top choice for seven consecutive years since 2015.
In second place is "YouTubers and other online distributors. This is up from 4th place last year.
Doctors (including dentists)" at No. 3 and "Nurses" at No. 7 also moved up from last year, and "Other athletes" came in at No. 15. The background of the ranking is likely to be events such as the spread of the new coronavirus and the hosting of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, respectively.
Men's No. 1: "Soccer player" and "YouTuber

Professional soccer players" and "YouTubers and other online distributors" have been popular occupations among boys in recent years. This time, both came in first place.
YouTubers and other online video streamers" is the only occupation that made the top five in all grades from first to sixth. This may be because the new coronavirus has caused children to refrain from going outside and to watch online videos indoors more often.
The number one female ranking was "pastry chef" by a landslide.

The top-ranked female occupation, "pastry chef (cake shop)," has been a legend since the 2001 survey, and has remained at the top for almost as long. Again this year, it is more than three times as popular as "cartoonist/illustrator," "nursery school teacher/kindergarten teacher," and "nurse," which came in second place.
The "Nurse" category appeared in the top 10 in all grades, surpassing last year's ranking of 5th.
Let's keep "fun" and "interesting" going!
Of the elementary school students who responded, 33.9% chose "I don't know" as the occupation they would like to have in the future. Some occupations are popular among boys and some are popular among girls, but if you forget about these images and look at various occupations, you may find something new. It may also be helpful to ask your parents or others close to you why you chose your current occupation, or what you wanted to be when you were in elementary school.
But don't be in a hurry. If you keep doing what you enjoy and what is interesting to you, it will lead you to Future Jobs. If there is no job that fits you perfectly, you can create your own job that does not exist yet.
