This job includes haircuts, shampooing, shaving, and facial grooming. Japanese law allows barbers to shave, but not hairdressers. To become a barber, one must have a national license. Students must study for two years (three years for correspondence courses) at a nationally designated barber training facility (such as a barber beauty school) and pass a national examination to obtain a barber license. This qualification is necessary if you want to become an independent barber in the future. The number of barbershops is on the decline as more male customers use beauty salons. On the other hand, new types of barbershops are emerging. One of these is the "barber.
