Job Details
Command center for computer system design and development teams
The job of a system engineer is to design the entire system by listening to the customer's requirements for what kind of work the computer is to do. The first step is "basic design," in which the engineer considers the system to realize the requirements based on what he/she hears from the customer. The next stage is "detailed design," in which the specifics of what methods and technologies will be used to create the system are determined. After this stage, the programmers must write a number of programs according to the blueprints, so they must create blueprints that are easy for the programmers to work on. The system engineer's important job is to connect the completed programs and check whether the entire system works according to the blueprints. If any defects or mistakes are found, they instruct the programmers to correct or adjust them. They are also responsible for maintenance and inspection of the system after it has been delivered to the customer.
