Dr. Children's Arborist.

This is a program to familiarize yourself with greenery by participating in a tree tour. As you listen to the forest instructor, you will become more and more familiar with forests and woodlands.
Forestry activities for learning while playing
There are quite a few people who are familiar with flowers and plants, but surprisingly few people can identify a chestnut tree and a sawtooth oak in a forest or woodland. Forests account for 67% of Japan's total land area. This is a waste of a country that is one of the most heavily forested in the world.
The "Children's Tree Doctor" is a volunteer program that was started to help more Japanese people learn the names of trees and become familiar with forests.
Those who are interested can participate in the program, which combines a forest tour with a tree identification test, sponsored by environmental protection groups and elementary, junior high, and high schools throughout Japan. The program is a way to play in the forest or park and review through a quiz-like test, so it can be considered as a form of leisure activity. It can be enjoyed with friends or with parents and children.
Familiarize yourself with the trees and receive a certificate.
An expert forestry instructor will take on the role of guiding the tree tour. After walking around the green space for about an hour, participants are given a test. After walking around the green space for about an hour, the participants will take a test, looking at leaf and branch specimens and writing the name of the tree on an answer sheet.
The test results are announced on the spot. If you get only one species right, you will be awarded 10 kyu, if you get two species right, you will be awarded 9 kyu, and if you get three species right, you will be awarded 8 kyu ....... If you get 11 to 19 species right, you will be awarded Shodan, and if you get 40 or more species right, you will be awarded 4-dan.
While it is fun to compete for kyu and dan, you will surely enjoy the event even if you just want to go out for a breath of fresh air amidst the greenery.
