Sign Language Proficiency Test

Sign Language Proficiency Test

Sign language is one of the ways to communicate with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Sign Language Proficiency Test is a test to determine how well you are able to use it and to use it as a guide for improvement. Let's try to learn "another language!

Imagine "life without sound."

Have you ever wondered what life would be like without sound? A life without the sound of the TV or the phone ringing, as well as the conversations of those around you. When you go outside, you don't hear the sound of cars on the road or the bell of a bicycle coming up behind you.
It must be very difficult for them and they must often be in danger. In addition, many deaf people have difficulty in speaking. They also have a hard time voicing their feelings and thoughts.
Sign language is one of the ways for such deaf people to communicate (oral communication, in which words are read with lip movements, and written communication, in which words are written on paper, are also conversational methods).
Sign language expresses various meanings by creating shapes with fingers, hands, and arms, and by adding movements. By adding facial expressions and movements of the head and lips, it is possible to communicate feelings and thoughts more precisely.

The world of sign language is open to everyone!

Sign language is not a mere "gesture," nor is it simply "aiueo" replaced one letter at a time with finger and hand movements. Just as Japanese has its own words and grammar, sign language has its own words and grammar.
The Sign Language Proficiency Test is a test to learn and improve sign language from the very beginning. Anyone can take the test, and many elementary and junior high school students have passed. Everyone can help the deaf and hard of hearing with "another language.
